The most overlooked thing today in CBD product is nanotechnology. CBD Living is a company using nanotechnology to produce their entire product including the infused water we carry.
What is nanotechnology in CBD?
In laymen’s terms, nanotech is a process used to create a more easily absorbed particle of CBD. It may sound easy, but it is a highly scientific process takes place on the molecular level.
In the process, extracting CBD particles from hemp plants and then create nanoparticles, which are significantly smaller than what was originally extracted. These particles are so small that they can pass through the bloodstream much easier, creating a product with better bioavailability (bioavailability refers to the amount of substance can actually be absorbed by the body. Crossing the blood brain barrier isn’t easy).
Anubhav Pratap Singh, PhD, is an assistant professor of food processing at the University of British Columbia. When referring to nanotechnology he has said, “As the particles get smaller and smaller, the microparticles still behave very similarly to the macroparticles, but as we reduce the particles to a few hundred nanometers, some properties of the particles are completely different than the old particles…[for instance], they can pass through gaps that they were unable to [pass through] before. So we try to take advantage of this in different forms.”
Dr. Singh confirms that cannabinoid nanotechnology hasn’t been widely studied, but he says much research is being done right now, and the results look positive. He stated, “We’re starting to see some very good quality papers coming in already about cannabis and nanotechnology and its impact on health. Moving into 2020, I think most of the cannabis products in the market will be produced using nanotechnology.”
